WHAT IS A STUDY GROUP

Study groups are informal, familial associations of readers of The Urantia Book who join together to share and nurture their experience with the book through fellowship, service, and study. The Revelatory Commission who wrote it anticipate the establishment of thousands of study groups as the primary method of consolidating acceptance of it's expanded teachings of truth beauty and goodness.

STUDY GROUP TECHNIQUES

After a prayer for guidance (if your group so chooses), you might begin with a short introduction of the subject, read the introductory portion of the paper you have chosen to study, and then ask someone to read the first section. Some groups encourage interruptions for questions or comments at any point; others prefer that questions be held until the end of each section.

EFFECTIVE STUDY GROUPS

While there is no general recipe for an effective study group, various groups at different times and places have used some of these ideas. The host or sponsor may initially set the organizational style of the meeting, but this style must evolve to fit the creativity and needs of the participating members. Say to your friends, "This book is changing my life. Come and study it with me!" It is important that your meetings be held at a consistent time so that people may plan their schedules accordingly.

STUDY DAYS

Every year, ANZURA arranges a National Study Day to provide an opportunity for everyone to participate in a study group where readers discuss the same topic on the same day in Regions throughout Australia and New Zealand.

If you would like to take part in the event to meet, study, share and fraternize with other readers in your region, simply contact the host (see links) for region closest to you before 20 May and he or she will give you details about the day.

CONTACT OTHER READERS

This website has a regional contacts list to help you find other readers in your area. Your study group is invited to send in your sponsors' names, the dates and times of your meetings, and someone's telephone number. In this way, out-of-town visitors can get in touch with you if they wish to attend one of your meetings. Addresses are not given in the regional listing in order to facilitate any screening you might want to undertake. Contact ANZURA and you can be sure of a warm reception.
