ABOUT ANZURA & MEMBERSHIP

The Australian and New Zealand Urantia Association (ANZURA) is a Urantia Book reader service organisation designed to foster the study of The Urantia Book and the dissemination of its teachings. It seeks to do this by providing interactive learning environments in which participants deepen and broaden their knowledge of The Urantia Book and enjoy the interaction and exchange of ideas with fellow Urantia Book readers throughout Australia and New Zealand.

ANZURA is the Australian and New Zealand chapter, known as a “National Association” of the Urantia Association International (UAI), which was inaugurated as a global, multi-national organisation to foster the study and dissemination of The Urantia Book. Both ANZURA and the UAI are active supporters of, and work in a complementary capacity with Urantia Foundation, the publisher of The Urantia Book.

Through ANZURA, readers of The Urantia Book throughout Australia and New Zealand may join in the collective tasks of providing a service ministry and social interaction for readers and non-readers alike. It is hoped that the teachings of The Urantia Book will be spread unselfishly, without fanfare or personal recognition.

ANZURA functions under a constitution which ensures democratic procedures and participation on a broad level. It is a non-profit organisation and has a simple organisational structure.  Some of the main objectives of the association are to support the steady spread of the teachings of The Urantia Book through undramatic, everyday means, such as placing The Urantia Book in libraries and encouraging local, autonomous, and informal Urantia Book study groups.  ANZURA also organises and supports annual conferences for students of The Urantia Book which are hosted by different study groups, and are held at different locations around the two countries from year to year. An Annual General Meeting is held at the annual conference.

ANZURA publishes The Arena, a quarterly newsletter designed to keep readers at large in touch with one another, to provide readers with Urantia related news and activities, and to serve as a vehicle for readers to share thoughts, feelings, and inspirations relating to their study of The Urantia Book.

It is the intention of ANZURA to assist the dissemination of The Urantia Book into Australia and New Zealand without encumbering it with church, temple, or other spiritual institutions. ANZURA is made up of men and women who have come to recognise the significance of The Urantia Book and the integrated beauty of its supernal teachings, and who have a natural desire to help in the dissemination of The Urantia Book. The book encourages us to develop our own philosophy through study, experience, decisions, and actions.  However, we hold the view, and recognise that collectively there are many valuable projects and programs we can undertake together in order to achieve our goals.

We therefore have pleasure in inviting readers of The Urantia Book to enquire about membership with ANZURA. A copy of the Bylaws of ANZURA and the Charter for the UAI, as well as an application for membership are available on this website. Pre-requisites for full membership are that the applicant has read The Urantia Book in its entirety and supports its teachings.  If an applicant has not completed an entire reading of the book, but would like to associate with us, he or she is welcome to become an Associate Member of ANZURA.
